Duisburg sightseeing

municipal theatre
The municipal theatre is located in the city center. It was designed in 1912 by the architect Martin Dülfer. The theatre works together with „theatre Bochum“ and „theatre at the Ruhr“, because it doesn´t have a play ensemble itself. The „Deutsche Oper am Rhein“, which is an opera company based in Duisburg and Düsseldorf, plays at the municipal theatre too. Landschaftspark Duisburg
Landschaftspark is located in Duisburg Nord and has been a public park since 1994. The park is used for different purposes. The gas tanks are now pools for scuba divers, the ore bin complex have become walls for rock climbers and the furnace is used as a look out tower with its 70m hight. Other halls serve for events and performances. At night you can enjoy the Landschaftspark with a beautiful and colorful light show. Museum Lehmbruck
The Museum shows basically the sculputures from Wilhelm Lehmbrucks and other artists from the 20th century. There is a collection of german paintings from the 19th and 20th centruy like Max Pechstein, Otto Mueller und Emil Nolde as well as a collection of sculptures from the 20th and 21th centruy. At the exterior area you can find a park with other sculptures.
Museum Küppermühle
The Museum Küppermühle is located at the Inner Harbor in a old granary and at the beginning housed only the collection from the art collector Hans Grothe, who had more than 800 works of different artists. The collection increased since the museum was housing the Ströher Collection too.
Theatre am Marientor
In the theatre at the Marientor there is space for 1540 spectators. The theatre offer ballet performances, musicals, operettas, operas and other cabaret events.
