Nuremberg was for more than 500 years the residence of the emperors of the Holy Roman Empire, in 1835 the "Adler", the first steam locomotive of Germany, operated between Nuremberg and Fürth, and important artists like Albrecht Dürer or Hans Sachs lived in the Franconian stronghold in their private house. In the time of the national socialism Nuremberg became the "town of the Reichsparteitage", while here the Nuremberg processes were held in the central law courts after the Second World War.
