Römer (the Roman)
Since the High Middle Ages the Römerberg (Romans' mountain) represents the centre of the Old Town and is nowadays the city hall square of Frankfurt am Main. Before its destruction by bomb raids during the 2nd world war the medieval constructions on this place were reconstructed partly faithfully. Only approx. 200 metres away in eastern direction – on the cathedral island - the the town was founded.
